On September 19th, 2014, a mysterious image was detected by FORS, an instrument of Belgians VLT (Very Large Telescope). This skygazer (FORS) has a field of view billions of light-years in size. An illustration of this view shows 93 white and ovular structures with a white line straight through. European scientist observing these structures are looking at galaxies bound to their cores which are black holes. The core rotates on sweltering discs which represent their orbitals (white line that cuts across). Scientists refer to these structures as Quasars. If you compare the brightness of a regular galaxy with just one Quasar. In between each Quasar is a blue phenomenon extending throughout the dark, connecting one galaxy to another. This web like occurrence is an alignment of galaxies often referred to as the large scale structure which is a narrowed down name for the cosmic web. This staggering view drops the jaws of scientists, including Dominique Sulse who insists that these connections are no coincidence. With a one percent chance of a coincidence, Sulse’s theory creates many ideas of structure and evolution of the universe.
The author, European Southern Observatory, conveys that this structure may very well be a system of galaxies working together as one. Evidence of polarization along with its measurements affects the rotation of the galaxy on its axis. connections between 19 Quasars movement around their orbit are calculated with the use of polarization. In this article the author exhibits many techniques, equations that have led to theories of how the universe came about. The point being, the answers to these questions are closer than one might think. Whether or not you love or hate astronomy, if you read of this article you are one step closer to figuring out why you, earth, and our galaxy exists. The effect of this discovery is not as collateral in interest of the people and an importance to this knowledge to ordinary people is undiscovered. Astronomy and its scientists studying day in and day out have come across a piece of a puzzle. These facts and discoveries when put together allow for the understanding of what is beyond our atmosphere. Discovery by discovery, knew theories are put forth. Although outer space is a mystery, the quasars are a valuable clue to an overall solution. We may not understand now,or in 100 years, only time will tell.
