This week while we voted for our government officials our military officials were planning an attack on Syria. Unlike the politicians, these 5 airstrikes released on Wednesday were truthful. This Wednesday night the strikes were targeting a group of the name Khorasan. This group's mission is to cause terror in the western territory, including the United States. Unfortunately their methods of doing so are through bombs and violence. This group is made up of very powerful “seniors” of Al Qaeda and have been posing a threat to the United States since early September. Airstrikes were sent on the 26th of September to try to eliminate the threats this group has been making.
The group Khorasan is guilty of moving forward with dangerous plans. One threat consists of getting through airport security with bombs. The United States was made aware of the groups threats and migration into Syria by someone on the inside. Whoever that is expressed that their was a vehicle that was believed to be carrying the French, 24 year old of the name David Drugeon. He was believed to be experimenting explosives that cover ones clothing and are virtually unseen in airport security. This shocking intelligence was the driving factor for the United States to take action.
The U.S military official said as he described the mission as a success, the day after the airstrikes (Thursday). “Initial indications that (the airstrikes) resulted in the intended effects.”
This is very good news to me because of it indicates the United States has the ability and intelligence to prevent terrorism from happening. The fact that there are still Al Qaeda out in the world is nerve wracking but it is out of our control. Groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda are scary thoughts to an American or Western countries. It is hard to wrap my head around why people do what they do; why do people make bombs, and why do they want to cause terror? To maintain power is the answer. It is sad that our society has caused fear and demonstrated violence, for something so absurd as power, but it has always been.
The bigger question though is what is driving innocent people into such an addicting thing. Why cant we all sit down and listen to each other instead of immediately going to bomb making, war tactics, and airstrikes. Everyone has different beliefs, but the ego of the human race is interfering with communication and peace. The ego is what causes the violence. The violence seems to always get the attention, and the attention provides a single man, women, group, or country power. This power is a worldwide drug, Society is the dealer, and the individuals are the buyers.
