In 1918 poland regained their independence as the first world war came to an end. As the years progressed Poland has never been the same. Their country became a battleground in the 1940s as nazis of germany fought. The history of the Polish has been thought a connection on why the riots of independence day occur. For the past 4 years on November 11th, annual violence of nationalists and police have occurred. The nationalists of Poland. The violence occurs on the independence day due to the label of the polish ethnicity which does not include certain ethnic and religious backgrounds. This is just a theory but has proven to be a good one. History of the national independence and its downfall was evident in the 1940’s during World War II. The nation of Poland decided to not include the jewish people into their ethnic background before, so maybe they would do it again.
As a strange looking in on this situation it causes confusion. I don't understand why these nationalist are fighting for the sake of tradition. If they do have a cause, it does not mean anything if you don't express your frustration. Looking back, history lists many reasons for domestic conflict but none of which are evident in today's Poland. When I first heard of this annual violence I immediately thought of the purge. The main difference between the two is one is condoned with no police and the other is prohibited and is a fight against the police. In CNN pictures, a police man was engulfed in flames. The violence has no known cause but it continues every November 11 on polish Independence Day. The day that brought people of Poland so much happiness is now a day of anger and rage. This annual violence for no particular cause is detrimental to Poland’s national reputation. Both the government and their people are at fault and without cooperation between the two, the traditional rampage will continue and escalate. This civil collaboration is necessary in order for the people of Poland to feel the independence they deserve.
